Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) proudly presents the Hong Kong Dance Festival (HKDF) 2010 from 11 November to 18 December 2010. It sets out to celebrate and showcase the originality and the diversity of the local dance scene. The six-week Festival includes an array of programmes such as the International Dance Symposium, stage performances, dance competitions, workshops, talks, community dance events and a snapshot competition, etc. Various dance genres like Ballet, contemporary dance, Chinese dance, folk dance, jazz, street dance, Standard and Latin dance are featured.

The Hong Kong Dance Federation was invited to organize 3 activites to support the Hong Kong Dance Festival 2010. Our activities include, Hong Kong Original Dance Works Spectacle, The Bauhinia Cup 2010 and the Bauhinia Cup International Dance Invitation Championships 2010.

This programme aims at enhancing artistic standard of local dance scene and encourages refinement and perfection of award-winning original choreographies by providing proper presentation platform and technical support including recording services. The Hong Kong Dance Federation is going to send call for proposals to recruit post-2004 award-winning original dance works from professional and non-professional dance organizations. A selection panel will choose the most representative works for a performance (“Junior Group” and “Open Group”) that is going to take place in Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Center on 26 and 27 November 2010. The performances will be videotaped as a means to document local original choreographies.
